IHPBA World Congress in Edinburgh, 2006

The IHPBA encourages the hosting of World Congresses and Regional Meetings in alternating years. National Chapters are also encouraged to hold national meetings in their home countries. Congresses provide a forum in which top Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgeons can exchange information on the latest developments, technologies, procedures and methods in the treatment of diseases of the liver, biliary tree and pancreas.

The primary mission of the IHPBA is "to improve evidence-based care and optimize the outcomes of patients with HPB disorders throughout the world by disseminating research findings and best treatment practices." In this respect, both the World Congress and Regional Meetings of the IHPBA include multiple symposia, keynote and update lectures, debates, videos, oral free papers and posters.
