IHPBA Membership
IHPBA membership currently numbers over 1000 and is broken into active, senior and honorary members distributed in 70 different countries. The organisation is divided into three regions each represented by a regional association (see Regional Associations):
- Europe/Africa/Middle East: European Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (EHPBA)
- Americas: American Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA)
- Asia/Australasia: Asian-Pacific Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (A-PHPBA)

There are also 20 national chapters that represent memberships from different countries.
Membership Falls under the following three categories:
- Active Member
- Senior Member
- Honorary Member
- The active member represents a medical practitioner or scientist actively involved in the hepatic, pancreatic or biliary fields. The applicant will need to fill out an application form which is then submitted and approved by the Secretary general. There is an annual fee for IHPBA membership.
- The senior member is offered after retirement from the active academic and / or clinical practice. Senior members do not have voting rights of do they receive the HPB journal.
- Honorary Members are those distinguished individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the fields of hepatic, pancreatic and biliary disease. These contributions can be clinical or scientific. An honorary member is proposed by a member of council which then seeks approval from the membership and the next General Assembly. Honorary members have voting rights, are excluded from holding office and are exempt from the annual membership subscription.
