During the recent 2008 IHPBA World Congress in Mumbai, the General Assembly approved a modest increase in membership fees and the creation of new membership categories of the IHPBA.

In addition to an electronic IHPBA membership directory, the IHPBA website's Members' Area introduces its new service to members; online access to the IHPBA official journal, HPB. IHPBA registered members can now access HPB online directly through our website!

On behalf of Professor Garden and the HPB Editorial team, we are delighted to announce that HPB has been accepted for indexing in Medline.  This is a great achievement for HPB and will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the journal’s profile and discoverability.  This success has been the result of the collective efforts of the Editors, Editorial Board and Associations.  We express our gratitude to all parties involved.

The President and Council of the IHPBA are honored to announce the Kenneth W. Warren Fellowship, made possible by a generous donation to the IHPBA by Dr. Kenneth W. Warren.

The IHPBA is pleased to announce the selection of the Korean Chapter's impressive bid to host the 2014 IHPBA World Congress. Professor SungGyu Lee will Chair the Congress in COEX, Seoul, Korea, from March 23-27, 2014.

Meticulously researched, and beautifully illustrated with more than 150 photographs, Eponyms in Surgery and Anatomy of the Liver, Bile Ducts and Pancreas is aimed at surgeons, physicians and anatomists, and is sure to enrich the reader's historical perspective of this fascinating branch of surgery and anatomy.

The IHPBA Research Committee was established 4 years ago with the aim to establish a structure and office capable of running trials under the auspices of the IHPBA. During the recent IHPBA World Congress in Mumbai, the Research Committee proposed the following IHPBA Trial Guidelines, which were approved by the IHPBA Council.

The delegates and the faculty were unanimous in their verdict "IHPBA 2008 was a great success." The 8th World Congress of IHPBA had 1450 delegates from 68 different countries.
