HPB Impact Factor

We have just received the excellent news that our new impact factor (3.13) keeps HPB in the top 40 of surgical journals. We have just failed to maintain the year on year rise since HPB was first awarded an impact factor of 1.285 in 2010. However, the leading surgical journals have experienced varying fortunes and we remain pleased with the profile and standing of the journal.

Impact factor reflects the number of cites compared to the total number of citable articles. HPB experienced a further surge in citations although our strategy of increasing the number of accepted manuscripts may have contributed to the slight fall in impact factor. We remain the journal to which your best manuscripts should be submitted. We thank authors and our reviewers for their continued support.

I would personally like to thank the editorial team and the editorial board for all their hard work. We are on track for another record breaking number of submitted manuscripts this year and we could not maintain the quality of the journal without your help and support.

James Garden, Editor-in-Chief, HPB
