Global Collaborations

The IHPBA Global Collaborations Committee leads initiatives that bring the global HPB community together. Through innovative collaborations — both virtual and in-person — the committee works to enhance surgical education, strengthen capacity, and foster knowledge-sharing across diverse healthcare settings.
What We Do
Shape IHPBA’s Global Strategy – Advancing IHPBA’s mission by developing initiatives that connect surgeons and allied health professionals worldwide.
Support Global Projects – Reviewing and recommending funding for collaborative initiatives, educational missions, and innovative partnerships.
Build Relationships & Capacity – Promoting cross-border learning, amplifying underrepresented voices, and creating opportunities for skill development and mentorship.
Promote Volunteer Opportunities – Encouraging IHPBA members to participate in global collaboration projects and make a lasting impact.
Our Goal
To create a stronger, more connected global HPB community by sharing expertise, resources, and opportunities — improving patient outcomes and advancing the field worldwide.

The IHPBA and the three regional associations AHPBA, A-PHPBA and E-AHPBA are committed to the development and advancement of HPB surgery around the world. A number of international projects have been carried out and more are planned.
- These outreach initiatives are longitudinal multifaceted programs to assist in the care of patients with HPB diseases in developing countries by fostering, mentoring and supporting local surgeons and institutions.
- Programmes involve phases of capacity assessment, surgeon identification and training, institutional development, local advocacy and support as well as continuing medical education.
- These phases are delivered through the committed efforts of multidisciplinary teams including internationally renowned HPB surgeons and coordinated by the pre-eminent international societies in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery.
