Brief History of the Chapter

The Paraguayan chapter of Hepato Biliary Pancreatic Association has its origins in a proposal by the Argentine Chapter, thanks to the steady work of Dr Alejandro Giménez and Julio Ramirez Sotomayor, since November 2013 initiated discussions with Drs Javier Lendoire, Oscar Imventarza and Ricardo Oddi (Argentina) and Dr Renan Antelo (Bolivia) regular participants of the activities organized by the AAC (Argentina Association Cirugia) and the Argentine Chapter AHPBA.

In August 2014, in Buenos Aires, 6 main local promoters participated the CongressPof the AHPB and during that time that the basis for the formation of new Chapters sat down and gave know the intentions of a group of Surgeons HBP, representatives of the main training in general surgery centers.

Later in the month of September in Tarija (Bolivia) a large group of Paraguayan HPB surgeons participated the XXVII Bolivian Congress, and reiterated to the directors of the AHPBA the purposes and negotiations carried forward for the recognition of the Paraguayan Chapter.

The Paraguayan Chapter was formed as a nonprofit organization with the intention to joint in a national organism professionals interested in HPB pathology, to exchange experiences and scientific growth, promoting friendship among its members, on par to include it to HPB International Organizations.

The Paraguayan Chapter of AHPBA is part of the Paraguayan Society of Surgery; it was recognized in April 2014 and is governed by its own statutes, endorsed by 44 Founding Partners, of which 11 are members of the IHPBA.

In October 2014, the Paraguayan Chapter HPBA was recognized by the AHPBA and is proud of being the most novel society in the region. Currently the Paraguayan Chapter is doomed in participate and is part of the preparation of the meeting program of the XXIV Latin American Congress of the International College of Surgeons, Paraguayan section in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay on May 2015.

El capitulo Paraguayo Hepato Pancreatico Biliar tiene sus orígenes en una propuesta del Capítulo Argentino, gracias a la perseverante tarea de los Dres Alejandro Giménez y Julio Ramirez Sotomayor que desde Noviembre del 2013 iniciaron las conversaciones con los Dres Javier Lendoire, Oscar Imventarza y Ricardo Oddi (Argentinos) y Renan Antelo (Boliviano) participantes habituales de las actividades organizadas por la AAC y el Capítulo Argentino de la AHPBA.

En el mes de agosto 2014, en Bs As, 6 de sus principales promotores locales participaron del Congreso de la AHPB y en esa ocasión , se sentaron las bases de la conformación de nuevos Capítulos y se dio a conocer las intenciones de un grupo de Cirujanos HBP, representantes de los principales centros de formación en cirugía general.

Posteriormente, en el mes de setiembre, en Tarija (Bolivia) un grupo numeroso de cirujanos HPB participó del XXVII Congreso Boliviano de Cirugía y reiteró a los directivos de la AHPBA los propósitos y las tratativas llevadas a delante para el reconocimiento de Capítulo Paraguayo. El Capitulo Paraguayo se conformó como una organización sin fines de lucro, con la intención de reunir en un organismo nacional a profesionales interesados en la patología HPB, para intercambiar experiencias fomentando el crecimiento científico y la amistad entre sus miembros, a la par de incluir al mismo en las Organizaciones Internacionales HPB.

El Capítulo Paraguayo de la AHPBA es parte de la Sociedad Paraguaya de Cirugía; fue reconocido en Abril del 2014 y se rige por estatutos propios, refrendados por 44 Socios Fundadores, de los cuales 11 son Miembros de la IHPBA.

En Octubre del 2014, el Capitulo Paraguayo HPB fue reconocido por el AHPBA y se siente orgulloso de ser la más novel sociedad de la región. Actualmente se encuentra abocada en la participación y parte de la elaboración del programa del Encuentro del XXIV Congreso del Colegio Internacional de Cirujanos, entre el 27 y 29 de mayo 2015, para el que los invitamos cordialmente.
