As our Secretary General noted, the planning for the World Congress is well under way and we are looking forward to ANZHPBA hosting the congress in Melbourne from 21-24 September 2020. Please mark these important deadlines in your diary:

Abstract Submission Deadline: 21 January 2020
End of Early Registration Fees: 12 May 2020

Support for delegates from low-income countries

IHPBA is committed to helping members in lower resourced countries to attend the World Congress and will once again offer a 50% reduction in registration fees. The list of eligible countries can be found on the World Congress website here.

As part of our mission to support education and research in HPB surgery, the IHPBA Foundation will provide 18 travel grants for young surgeons from underserved regions to attend the 14th World Congress. The grant package will also include attendance at the Postgraduate Course on 21 September. Please click here for further details on eligibility criteria and the application process. The deadline for submission is Tuesday 21 January 2020.

In addition to our travel grant process, a new initiative for this World Congress is giving invited speakers the opportunity to waive their complimentary registration in order to fund the registration fees for two trainees from low income countries. The feedback we have received to date has been extremely positive and we will be able to provide an update on the number of complimentary trainee registrations which this initiative generates by the end of May. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the speakers who are able to contribute, and they will be acknowledged on the congress website.

Melbourne Affordability

IHPBA World Congress 2026

IHPBA is inviting bids to host the 2026 World Congress which will take place in the Asia-Pacific Region and is expected to attract in the region of 3,000 international delegates. Read more here.
