Brief History of the Chapter

The Ethiopian Chapter of E-AIHPBA was inaugurated in 2018 by Martin Smith and Jonathan from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Unfortunately, before the chapter could secure official recognition from IHPBA, the COVID-19 outbreak disrupted progress. Once the pandemic was brought under control, we collaborated with Kristoffer Lanssen from Oslo University Hospital, who played a key role in revitalizing the chapter. He connected us with Lisa Yarrow and Michelle Peters, two pivotal members of IHPBA, whose support was instrumental in achieving formal recognition. As a result, the Ethiopian Chapter of E-AIHPBA is now officially established under IHPBA.

Chapter Meetings

Our upcoming chapter meeting will be held on May 15–16, 2026, in conjunction with the annual scientific conference of the Surgical Society of Ethiopia. This arrangement has been made to ensure greater convenience and participation for our members.
