The Gulf Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Society

The Gulf Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Society is a newly established professional organization dedicated to advancing the fields of liver, pancreas, biliary, and transplant surgery across the Gulf region. Officially launched during the Gulf HPB Conference held on April 18–19, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, the society aims to foster regional collaboration, promote research, and enhance clinical excellence in HPB medicine.

Comprised of leading surgeons, hepatologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, and allied healthcare professionals, the Gulf HPB Society serves as a platform for knowledge exchange, training, and innovation. Its mission includes supporting multidisciplinary approaches to complex HPB diseases, encouraging minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques, and integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and 3D reconstruction into clinical practice.

The society's formation marks a significant milestone in unifying HPB specialists across the Gulf, providing a structured network for education, mentorship, and collaborative research. Through annual conferences, workshops, and academic initiatives, the Gulf HPB Society is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of hepatopancreatobiliary care in the region and beyond.
