What is HPBridge

Connecting HPB expertise. Advancing global surgical equity.

HPBridge Map

HPBridge is a global IHPBA initiative advancing equitable, two-way collaboration in hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery. Launched in 2023 with seed funding from the IHPBA Foundation, HPBridge connects surgeons across 81 centres in 36 countries, creating a trusted platform for shared learning, case discussion, and professional development.

Through regular virtual multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, HPB surgeons from low-, middle-, and high-income settings come together to exchange clinical insight, research perspectives, and educational experience, prioritising inclusivity, meaningful participation, and mutual benefit.

HPBridge initiatives extend this collaboration beyond education.** HPBridge Groups** are structured by geography, time zone, and areas of surgical interest, meeting monthly for case discussion, learning, and exchange on emerging practice. The ACCORD Registry supports collaborative, multicentre research, enabling HPB surgeons, particularly in LMICs, to contribute to and benefit from high-quality, practice-relevant data. The HPBridge Research Grant Programme provides funding and mentorship to LMIC-based members, supporting locally led research and early-career investigators.

HPBridge strengthens global networks and builds sustainable surgical capacity worldwide.
