HPB Impact Factor Score Rises to 3.3

I am delighted to inform you that the Impact Factor of HPB has increased to 3.3 in 2025. Following Covid all surgical journals experienced a decline in their impact factors, partly due to a reduced number of publications and partly because of a reorganisation in Journal Citation Reports. We have been working hard as a team to improve the status of HPB which remains one of the most widely read and important journals in our area of expertise, clinical HPB surgery.

As Editor in Chief I would like to thank my Associate Editors but also all of the reviewers and authors that have contributed to the journal success along with the Publications and Communications Committee and our publisher Elsevier. There has been a noticeable increase in the number of guidelines that are being sent to and published in HPB, sometimes alone sometimes jointly with another journal such as BJS, along with survey and scientific studies emanating from regional chapters.

With these type of articles supporting our metrics I believe the impact factor will continue to improve. Thank you to all members of the IHPBA for contributing to the success of our journal.
