Israel Chapter

The Israeli Society of HPB Surgery

History of the Chapter

The Israeli Society of HPB Surgery is a part of the Israeli Surgical Association and includes about 50 members. HPB surgery is performed at 20 public medical centers and two private hospitals. In addition, there are three organ transplant programs in Israel.

The Israeli Society of HPB Surgery was formed in 2011 by the late Professor Rami Czerniack as a part of the Israeli Society of Surgical Oncology in order to promote and coordinate professional and educational research among HPB surgeons in Israel.

We work closely with the Israeli Surgical Association and the Israeli Society of Surgical Oncology to provide HPB related content, for continuing medical education of the Israeli surgeon. Our group meets three times a year to discuss interesting HPB cases and topics, and we have HPB sessions at the bi-annual conference of the Israeli surgical association and a session at the bi-annual conference of the Israeli society of surgical oncology.
