Vietnamese Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery

History of the Chapter

During the early 60’s in Vietnam, the extrafascial and transfissural approach is considered to have been introduced by Ton That Tung. This approach is referred as the primary parenchymatous transection method (Ton That Tung's technique). Prof. Ton That Tung is one of the most famous pioneer in liver anatomy and liver surgery all over the world.

The Vietnamese Society of Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Surgery (VSHBPS) was founded in November 2018 and currently has 31 founding members. Members of the Chapter are encouraged to join the combined A-PHPBA/IHPBA membership. The VSHBPS aims to be the professional body which sets standard and guidelines for member in the management of HPB diseases and disorders in Vietnam.
