myHPB Virtual Journal Club - ALPPS

The Virtual Journal Clubs regularly feature on the HPB website.  These are compiled by the journal editors and are designed to provide you with an easy and enjoyable method for learning about a key HPB topic.  Key recent articles and media are selected, and learning objectives are provided around which to build your discussion.  Readers are encouraged to involve colleagues and learn together through HPB Virtual Journal Club.

In order to allow a more interactive forum for members to discuss VJC content, we have decided to transfer this successful format to IHPBA’s online education platform, myHPB

April’s Virtual Journal Club is on the ALPPS procedure.  Since ALPPS was first described in 2012 there has been considerable interest from the HPB surgical community.  There remain many unanswered questions, principle of which is the acceptability of the associated morbidity and mortality. It therefore seems timely to present a journal club summarising the articles available in HPB, together with key video content illustrating an animated technical description of ALPPS, an animated description using ablation to achieve the liver partition and laparoscopic ALPPS.

Please go to myHPB to view the content and do take part in the discussion, noting that you need to first be logged in to follow this link.  We are on hand to respond to comments and answer any questions.

We hope you enjoy the Virtual Journal Club and would welcome your feedback on the new format to education@ihpba.org.
